tonight we're at the metropol in pittsburgh and
its abbey's birthday. Donna's just bought herself
a black afro wig. i'm just recovering from the
usual mid tour flu which everyone on the bus has
had. So far the best gig for me was providence,
rhode island. i think it was the first time on
the tour that i felt that the band was really
working with its new line-up. it's been
interesting to work with new musicians,
particularly abbey who has a completely different
style than annie. she brings a new dynamic to a
lot of the older songs and has been writing some
really cool stuff on some of the new ones.
Generally i think that she is really punk rock
like annie was. while annie was very english punk,
abbey is definitely american punk, which is cool.
It's also been really funny to watch the way that
the audience has been reacting to anthony's
antics on stage. I think some people are a bit
confused by the bez thing that he's been doing
because its not generally something that "rock"
bands in america do. But watching Ants legging it
round the stage banging stuff and generally
winding Jus up definitely makes it more fun for
us.
Anyway it's nearly gig time so see ya later,thats

see us in Denver we have tried to make sure that
won't happen again..

hey its donna here, justine's typing it up for me
cos i'm just learning how all this stuff works. i'm
too fucked to chat now but i'm gonna get it
together and communicate (this is fucking ace)
we did a shit gig tonight. well, i was crap
anyyway cos we partied too much last night and i
lost my voice and couldnt keep it together.
Anyway who gives a shit.
i'm gonna go cos justine's doing her shit and i'm
butting in but just to say i'm gonna learn how
this all works and write some interesting stuff.
We wrote this twice cos we lost the first one cos
we're crap so i'm gonna go now but just to let
you know i'm online but off it!
justine's gonna write her stuff now so i'll stop
bugging her and pissoff.

hiya
itsmeagain. Tonight we're in tampa and i'm
sitting on the tour bus waiting for the first
part of the beatles anthology to come on tv.
After almost a year of listening to revolver and
rubber soul incessantly, i'm actually really
excited to see it. I was brought up listening to
sinatra, ella, etc.
rather than sixties stuff. i feel like i
discovered the genius of the beatles really late
in life. For me,its the way that the guitar
sounds are so brilliantly extreme that they're
almost comic and the vocal delivery is so blank
despite the emotional content of the lyrics...
Anyway, the pittsburgh gig turned out to be
really good, one of the best of the tour. The
next day we played in baltimore which was kind of
weird. I spent two hours asleep on the bus and
woke up just before the gig which was in a really
desolate part of town, under a motorway.
There was a violent snowstorm and we were all
freezing so we decided to try to warm up with a
few drinkies. Unfortunately, i think we had a few
drinkies too many...
After that we started heading south. we played a
really fun gig in raleigh, north carolina in a
tiny punk club which reminded me of some of our
first gigs ever. It was too small to get off
stage for the encore.
Winston, North Carolina was good too. our show
there was in a strange little scandinavian hippy
venue.
This week we've been playing in florida. it's
really good to be back in warm weather.

ok its me again. i've got about an hour before we
have to leave for the airport. hope you liked the
snaps and sorry that the tour diary wasn't a bit
more comprehensive (talking of which, donna says
hi).
thanks a lot to everyone who came to see us,
especially in ft. lauderdale and memphis which
were the best gigs of this week. big cheers for
jumping around, stagediving/getting yourheads
kicked in, and to anyone who made it up on stage
(particularly champagne, illinois). I'm going to
try to hook up with the AOL when i get back.
