"Alright,
their second
album isn't out yet
but things look great right now. Elastica will play two festivals this summer, Reading and Leeds on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of August,
so hurry up and get some tickets, I definitely would if I
was luckier and didn't have to sit at uni taking my exams
at that time. Life sucks.
OK, now here's the sad part: Donna and Sheila
are no longer part of the band, but Annie's back!!
Here's the new official line-up:
Justine Frischmann (vocals&guitar)
Justin Welch (drums)
Annie Holland (bass)
Paul Jones (guitar)
Dave Bush (keyboard)
Mew (keyboard&vocals)

I don't
know what Donna's
up to at the moment but she's on the new Rentals album called 'Seven More Minutes'. She sings on a couple of songs
and it's totally awesome.

They have a new 6 track EP completed which will be released
on Deceptive Records on August 23, in the UK only unfortunately! Elastica
have recorded more than an LPs-worth of material but
there are no release dates for a whole LP yet. About half
of the material features the new line up but there are still some of Donna and Sheila's songs on there, too.
EP Tracks:
'Nothing Stays the Same' (Donna Matthews Demo)
'Miami Nice' (written by Donna & Justine)
'How We Wrote Elastica Man' (vocals by Mark E. Smith)
''KB' (vocals by Mark E. Smith)
'Operate'
'Generator'

"The
material has been chosen to allow people to hear rarities
and demos which reflect all stages of the band's
recordings between 1996 and 1999. The EP is certainly not
intended to be some big comeback record. We're really
pleased to be putting something out at last. We've gone
through a lot of different stages in the writing
and recording process and I think fans will enjoy these
tracks, which reflect this well, but which are mostly too
raw for the album itself. It's important to let fans hear
some new material before Reading and Leeds, although the
live set as a whole will be a better representation of
the new album material. We've been away for a long time
and it's just really
exciting to be working and playing as a whole band again.
It's going to be a challenge." ~ Justine Frischmann
There's an interview with Justine Frischmann (the first in ages!!)
on Radio One's Evening Session on 28/7/99. You can read
the transcript here very soon.
If you've got news
about anything concerning the band, please mail me and let me know so I can add it here.
Thank you."
Oh, you're welcome... HELEN! ;)
